Clinical Correlations of Electroencephalography Findings in Headache Patients

Abstract
By reviewing clinical characteristics and electroencephalography(EEG) findings of 350 headache patients, this study analyzed the relationship between clinical characteristics of headache patients and their EEG abnormalities and found the
following
results.
1. Mean age of headache patients with EEG abnormality was 34.9 years and that of those with normal EEG findings was 35.3 years
2. There was no significant relationship between EEG findings and clinical characteristics such as age, sex, location or laterality of symptom, duration of symptom, pattern of symptom onset, progress of continuity of symptom, disturbance in
activity of
daily life or brain CT finding.
3. Type of headache was significantly related with EEG findings, but vascular type did not influence it
4. Severity of symptom such as disturbing sleep, poor response to usual analgesics and presence of associated symptoms had highly significant relationship with EEG abnormality.
5. Location or laterality of symptom were not related to those of EEG abnormality.
